Emma's 3rd grade teacher is expecting her second baby this January. Much to my surprise, the principal asked me to sub for her while she is out on maternity leave. I did graduate and I have my degree in elementary education, but I have never taught a class of my own since I have been busy raising our 5 children.
I just spent this last week observing and helping in the classroom so that I have an idea of their regular routine, so that things won't be completely disrupted by the change. I have to admit that I'm a little nervous, it has been a long time since I graduated, but mostly I'm excited. The class only has 11 students and they are a really good group. I also get to teach them about writing narratives which is one of my favorite things. I'm going to be spending the next month getting ready and trying to figure out how to keep the house from falling apart for the 6 weeks or more that I'm teaching. Wish me luck!

That's pretty cool Steph! What does Emma think about having her Mom in class? Let me know what ideas you come up with for teaching how to write narratives. That would be a fun thing to teach.
