Christmas Day 2010

Ben and I have been wondering for years when our kids are going to wake us up early on Christmas morning. Maybe it's because we are all used to getting up around 6 or 7 anyway that it doesn't feel early, or maybe it is because the kids are too well trained to get out of bed before mom and dad, but it hasn't happened yet. In fact there have been several times that we have had to wake them up. This year Gordon was still asleep at 8.

Here are Emma and Melinda checking out their stockings in their new bathrobes. The bathrobes were a huge hit. Just a few days ago the girls were all wearing theirs to play in with little stuffed animals in the pockets.

Becca and her Sleeping Beauty baby. She got a lot of babies this year and has been loving life. She keeps trying to get Gordon to play house with her, calling him "honey" like they were married. He wants nothing to do with it and keeps telling her he is not her honey. Today he was trying to get her to leave him alone and her told her he could hear her baby crying, it actually worked for a minute or two she ran into the bedroom to check.

Ben, Andrew and the Erector set that we got for him. Ben really wants him to enjoy making things as much as he did when he was little, he was helping for a little while, but Ben ended up finishing it mostly by himself. Maybe in a few more years. He has some K'nex that he really enjoys, but they are a little easier than the Erector set.

Andrew and Gordon with their How to Train Your Dragon toys that they bought for each other. They really enjoy buying things for each other. Gordon still talks about who bought who what when they are playing with their new toys.

This is over at Grandma Grimstead's house. Papa bought all the girls little stuffed animals, my three all got these cute little monkeys.

Gordon got a looped race track, the kids have all had fun with that. It's a good thing we have a good supply of hot wheels to go with it.

Here is Melinda opening her monkey.

And Emma with hers.

Andrew got Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots, he's wanted one for a while, he was pretty happy about it. He challenged several uncles and cousins to fight him on it. He also figured out pretty quickly that one of the robots was more likely to win than the other.
The day after Christmas we spent with Grandma Young and of course I forgot my camera. We had a lot of fun playing games and we did a white elephant gift exchange again this year. It's always very loud when everyone gets together, but I wouldn't miss it for the world, I wish that we could all be together more often.

Christmas was wonderful, but I think spending time with our family is what makes it so great.
