What a sweet little 8 year old we have. Melinda is what I would call a free spirit, sometimes it is a little hard for me to handle, since I tend to be more reserved. I do love to watch her having fun and being silly with her friends, the way that I act only when we are at home, but when she is still being silly when it is time to be quiet it can be rough.
She has just started to really enjoy reading this year and that has been so fun for me to watch, I can hardly wait until she is old enough to read some of my old favorites. Some other things she enjoys are drawing, playing Barbies and making up stories. Just last weekend she spent a lot of time making cards for everyone in her class with pictures of the things that they like. She can be very sweet.
She blew all of the candles out in one try, she was very excited about that.
A panda pillow pet. Emma got a pillow pet for Christmas from a friend and now everyone wants one. It's just too bad that everyone else has to wait another 6 months to a year for their birthdays. Meanwhile Emma and Melinda have been very good about sharing theirs.
The new dress that we bought for her to wear to her baptism. I can hardly believe she is old enough. In another five years they will all have been baptized. Time just seems to fly by when you have little ones. Every time we hit a major mile stone like this I tell myself I'm going to be better about doing more with my kids, but we fall back in to all our same routines. I just hope that they will remember their childhoods as happy ones.
