My New Obsession

I know that my mo tried to teach me how to crochet when I was younger. I don't recall if she made it past the basic chain, I just wasn't interested enough to stick with it. Ever since Emma has started asking to learn how I've suddenly become interested. I've found several tutorials online and I've been pretty busy. I started with these little hair bows that I remember my mom making for me and my sisters when I was little.

This is a variation that I've been playing with adding a flower on the end instead of the spiral, I still haven't decided how much I like it. You can't really tell that it's a flower when it is in someones hair.

From the ribbons I branched out into little flowers, butterflies and hearts, also from patterns I found online. I've just added them to little barrettes, my girls really like them, but I need to start doing their hair more if we want to use them. Emma has requested that I buy some bigger barrettes since these are too small for her hair, she might actually use them if I do since she mostly does her own hair. Below are some pics of the girls modeling them, Becca wasn't sure why I kept telling her not to look at the camera.

And last, but not least, is the organizer that I made for my crochet hooks. Now that I'm using them and I've bought several new ones I needed a better place to keep them than stashed in a drawer in my craft room.

It folds up to about 5 x 6 inches.

And here it is unfolded with all of my hooks, scissors, and a few yarn needles in the little pocket on the right. I found the pattern for this on a blog called Little Birdie Secrets. Currently I'm in the middle of making a hand bag that I hope will work for my scriptures and I have several other patterns that I would like to try. All of this has come at a pretty good time, I'm scheduled to have bunion surgery in April and I'll have to stay off of my feet for a couple weeks, it's good to know that I'll have something to keep me busy.
