Due to the many wild fires this year we had to cancel the Grimstead Family Camp, but we still spent several days together and had a lot of fun. We started out on the 4th of July with the fireman's races and games at the school and a barbecue later. I feel like these pictures look the same every year except for the number of kids in them, but I just can't help it, they are always so excited to ride the fire truck and go to the races.
The next day Kyle and I took the older kids for a hike, one of the many reasons I love living in Eureka, it's so easy to just go for a quick hike.
We spent a day in Salt Lake too, we visited Temple Square and the church museum where the kids were able to play in the hands on Book of Mormon exhibit. Then they played in the fountain at the new City Creek Center.
You can never get enough playing in the water. We spent an afternoon at Payson Pool, the kids look forward to this each summer. It's nice to have a place they can go swimming that isn't so big that I get nervous.
They also had an afternoon of running through the sprinklers at grandma's house, followed by a round of otter pops.
I don't think any of the kids were disappointed that we didn't make it camping, they just want to spend time with their cousins. Personally I was just glad that I didn't have to unpack and repack for another trip after getting back from Kansas City. Dad on the other hand is planning on extra camping next year.
