First Day of School 2009

Here they are, all ready and excited for a new school year. Poor Gordon doesn't get to start pre-school until the 9th of September. He had his lunch packed and was a little bummed out when I told him he couldn't go to school yet, but he got over it well enough. He has asked every day since if he could go to school. Hopefully he likes it as much as the other three. I shouldn't worry, with grandma as a teacher what could go wrong. (We're so lucky!)

Andrew is in the 5th grade this year, I'm not sure how to feel about this, but he is doing well and excited to continue moving on. He keeps telling me how many more years he has until High School, I know that will have me worried. I try not to think about it.

Emma is in the 3rd grade this year and finally has a new girl in her class. Last year it was just her and her best friend Sydney. Before that there were a couple of other girls but never for very long. The new girl is one that Emma knew from her dance class so she is excited.

Melinda is in 1st grade and loving it. I was a little concerned about the transition from half a day to a full day, but it hasn't been a problem for her. She is more worried about not having a lunch menu. For some reason she loves eating school lunch, who am I to argue? She also has a new girl in her class and might be getting more new students according to rumor. Her class has always had a fairly even balance, but things are starting to swing in favor of the girls.
As always I'm grateful to live here in Eureka, where I know the teachers care about my kids and where I know most of the kids they are going to school with. I don't know if I could handle sending them to a large school, I worry enough as it is.
